A Moseley cafe that opened 20 years ago is up for sale as bosses prepare to retire. Maison Mayci on Alcester Road is on the market through Veritas Business Sales which says the owners are selling up to ‘enjoy a well-deserved retirement’.

Maison Mayci first opened in 2005 on Kings Heath’s Poplar Road, a branch which closed back in August 2020. Owners Remi and David Faveau have since put their efforts into their Moseley location and David competed on Bake Off The Professionals in May 2022.

Maison Mayci is a French cafe that serves fresh coffee, artisan breads, tarts and fresh pastries baked fresh daily by on-site bakers. We visited during David’s Bake Off run and you can read our review here.

Announcing the sale on Zoopla, Veritas Business Sales explained: “The business was established by our client 20 years ago and they are now offering the business for sale so that they can enjoy a well deserved retirement.

“Since ownership there has been continual investment in new equipment along with fixtures and fittings which are all bought and paid for and included within the sale price which is a huge plus for any new purchaser as additional funds will not need to be spent for some time.”

It added: “They have built a strong reputation within the local community and beyond for serving high quality food and as such have a high level of regular and repeat trade. This is a superb opportunity to purchase a restaurant in a prime location which would lend itself to a variety of cuisines which is a great base to build upon and as such early viewing is highly recommended.”

Maison Mayci has great reviews on Google with an overall rating of 4.5 stars out of five. Elizabeth Anne Norris gave it top marks, writing: “Really need a holiday! Instead I treated myself to a taste of France at Maison Mayci. Delicious Croque monsieur, coffee and raspberry frangipani. So lucky to have this cafe on my doorstep. Life is good again!”

Amy Hill added: “Maison Mayci house the best bakers in Brum, the loaves of bread are all wonderful and delicious toasted. I recommend you and go once a week and pick up a special variety bread and a pastry and support these amazing, hardworking small business owners/chefs.”

BirminghamLive contacted Maison Mayci for comment. The restaurant is on the market for £199,950.
