Dana Motors, longtime Billings auto business on Grand Ave., listed for sale – Billings Gazette

A landmark business along Grand Avenue in Midtown Billings is for sale.

Dana Motors, which has been at 2046 Grand Avenue for more than 50 years, has been listed by NAI Business Properties at $2,995,000. The price includes the business and the 66,700-square-foot lot.

Del McCormick has owned the dealership since 2010 and expanded the lot last year when the Village Inn Pizza building was demolished.

McCormick, who is 53, has had some health challenges that hastened his retirement.

In this 2013 file photo, Del McCormick, owner of Dana Motors, talks about Saab going out of business.

“Although, I’m not going to be doing nothing,” he said. “I’ll find some good, productive word to do.”

Shortly after buying the foreign auto business, McCormick faced some challenges when Volkswagen pulled its service contracts and later when Saab went bankrupt.

“But, we shepherded the business along and kept building it up,” he said.

McCormick said he’s looking for a good steward to take over the business, which over the decades has developed a strong reputation.

“There’s a lot of value in this company, not just the lot, but in a brand that over 54 years has become iconic,” McCormick said.”It’s time for some new blood to take over and take it to the next level.”
