Family run café in Northumberland market town for sale with owner set to retire – Chronicle Live

A popular café in a Northumberland market town has gone up for sale as its owner is set to retire.

Small World Café on Hexham Market Place opened in 2016 and is known for offering homemade and locally-sourced food. It is currently ranked number two on TripAdvisor for cafés in the town centre, missing out on top spot to the Wentworth Café.

After eight years, owner Angela Wilson has decided to call it a day so that she can spend more time with her family. She says that the 40-cover café has become a “hub” of the community under her stewardship.

Angela added: “It has not been an easy decision to place The Small World Café for sale, however, after many years in the business it’s time to have more valuable family time.”

Marslie McGregor, business agent at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, said: “Angela and Andrew have built the business to the success it is today; one of Hexham’s most known and popular cafés. The successful purchasers will be inheriting not only a well-loved café but one with a healthy and consistent level of trade.

“I am expecting a high level of interest in what is a rare opportunity to acquire a leading licensed café in one of the North East’s most popular tourist towns.”

The leasehold sale price of the Small World Café is £75,000 – which is a one-off purchase price and includes the lease, business, goodwill, fixtures and fittings. Annual rent is a further £27,000.
