Unique castle with moat sold in Queensland.

A unique ‘castle’ with moat has sold in Queensland, with the happy homeowners ready to welcome friends and relatives.

Ecstatic Queensland house hunters have just become rulers of their own castle surrounded by a moat and private forest green enough to be a Game of Thrones House of the Dragon fantasy.

The “piece of paradise” called Creole Castle, in a small village between Tully and Cardwell in Far North Queensland, has sold after several months of searching for its next ruler.

House of the Dragon series 2, exclusive to the Foxtel Group, will stream live on Binge.

Ross Sorbello of Tully Realty, who marketed the property with colleague Nitta Morris, said interested parties had to be screened to ensure they were genuine – not just curious thrill seekers.

“This home is a castle” was how he described it, with 21 hectares of private forest and its own moat.

“There was a lot of interest because of its uniqueness,” Mr Sorbello said.

Ms Morris said those that came through inspections were “people that wanted something with character” – something the new owners now had more than enough of.

“Living in a castle,” she said, “you don’t get to do that every day.”

The new owners have already moved in their own animals, none of which are dragons.

“The people that purchased have got animals that they’ve moved to the property. It’s very quiet and they just loved all the statues and everything in the yard, how it was set up, the wildlife. The moat, you’re looking out your bedroom window at it.”

The final sale price was kept confidential but the estate had been listed for sale at $785,000.

Mr Sorbello said “the price was probably a little bit high at first. It came down a bit and then it sold.”

Unfortunately for those who might want to a taste of private kingdom life, the new owners don’t plan to rent out the experience – but they will be welcoming many friends and family to their hearth.
