SAVOY — A longtime local business has put its property up for sale.
Skateland Savoy, located at 208 W. Curtis Rd., is on the market, though owners Bob and Jeanne Householder, along with their son, Ethan, say the business is not closing its doors yet.
“We want to reassure our skating friends that yes we are ready to retire but the rink will be open and business as usual for many months,” the family shared on social media. “Our hope is to keep skating in the community and our property stay a roller rink. It’s a long process to find a buyer and a lot of paperwork. Rest assured we will give the community plenty of notice when the time comes. We want to go out with the community enjoying a skating celebration. Keep rollin!”
The couple have owned the business for a little over 20 years and run it with help from their son.
Guth & Associates, which is listing the sale at Crexi.com, said, “The offering includes the 2.5 acre parcel, 28,000 SF main building with two small out buildings, and can include the existing business and equipment. Skateland has been operational in the building for 44 years and is a profitable business operating 3 – 4 days per week.”
The building includes a roller rink, a laser tag area, a concessions area, a kitchen, private party rooms, an arcade, a gift shop and an office.
Skateland is nominated for The News-Gazette’s People’s Choice Awards in three categories: Kids’ Activities, Places for a Kid’s Party and Entertainment Venue for its Laser Zone Laser Tag. The business came in first for all three categories in 2023.
“This property presents a versatile opportunity either to continue the long-standing profitable skating rink business or to redevelop the large parcel and building for new uses given its strategic location and community growth potential,” the listing states.
